Seedlings

3.5 – 6 Years Old

Our tamariki in seedlings are beginning their gentle journey toward school.  Our Kaiako approach these years with love and understanding that everyone learns differently.

How do our tamariki learn?

to inspire...

“The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn”

– Maria Montessori

Provocations are experiences thoughtfully designed to stimulate the senses and invite imaginative learning, creativity, investigation, complex thinking and build confidence. Provocations are a gentle way to encourage our tamariki to learn for themselves.

Laki

Kia Ora/ Ayubowan!

My name is Lakmali, but you can call me Laki. I'm originally from beautiful Sri Lanka and have called Aotearoa home for the past 14 years. My whānau and I now live in stunning Clarks Beach, and I am a proud māmā of four wonderful tamariki.

I'm a fully qualified and registered kaiako, with 13 years of experience in early childhood education. This field is my passion, and I feel privileged to continue growing alongside our youngest learners.

My teaching philosophy is grounded in building strong, respectful, and trusting relationships with tamariki, whānau, and kaiako. I believe in creating a nurturing, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment where every child feels a strong sense of belonging (whanaungatanga) and is empowered to learn and grow at their own pace. I draw inspiration from Te Whāriki and value child-led, play-based learning that celebrates the uniqueness of every child.

Terri

Kia Ora, ko Terri ahau.

I am Kaiako in the Seedlings Rūma.
I have been working in Early Childhood for 7 years, and have completed my first year of my degree.

A bit about me is, I believe that by nurturing and empowering children, we can help them grow into confident, capable individuals who are eager to learn and explore the world around them. I am a big advocate for the benefits of spending time outside and connecting with nature. I believe that children learn best when they have the freedom to explore, engage with their environment, and take on new challenges. Nature provides endless opportunities for learning, and I aim to foster a love for the outdoors and all the learning that comes with it.

I look forward to working closely with your family to support your child’s development, and I’m excited for all the wonderful experiences we will share along the way
